Studios carry a lot of weight in a small space. A few hundred kilograms of bumper plates, a rack of dumbbells, kettlebells, sleds and a wall-mounted or free-standing rig can add up to several tonnes, and much of it has to be carried by hand through shop fronts, back doors and stairwells. Rigs that are bolted to the floor or walls also need careful unbolting and making good.
Most studios cannot afford a long closure, so moves are usually planned over a single day or weekend. Flooring is often the critical path: rubber tiles need lifting and stacking before the heavy kit can be moved, then relaying at the new site before the rig and racks go back in. Bikes, rowers and ergs are lighter but need protecting so monitors and seats are not damaged.
